Sausages....and other finds!

Every morning I go for a run, and I really do mean EVERY morning. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, my birthday, New Years Day....every day.

I go out at about 5:30am, while the streets of my town are still quite quiet, and while I am on my run I happen across some unusual things. Some things are interesting, some funny, but some have no immediate explanation.

This morning was one of those. Now while I am on my run, I regularly see domestic cats and wild foxes. All are friendly, some follow me, but none are confrontational (I needed to tell you this so that you understood my interest in my morning find). While jogging slowly along a dark and deserted street, I saw a cooked sausage on the pavement. The sausage was alone, cooked, but unharmed in any other way. There was no evidence that it had come from a food waste bin. No evidence that it had been part of a take-a-way meal. And no evidence that it had been pecked or bitten in any way.

I thought to myself, "how did that get there, without a fox munching half of it?". But I passed it by.

Then, about 100 yards later, on the pavement again was another sausage. This one was again, cooked but unscathed.

How on earth did these two manage to survive a night, riddled with urban foxes, without harm.

I will never know.
